Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, AZ - Posted: Wednesday, November 13, 2013 - Lorraine Florence (Blanchette) Kreft, 95, passed away peacefully at home in Lake Havasu City, Nov. 10, 2013. She was born Dec. 2, 1917 in Brockton, Mass., to Albert and Marie-Luce (Lucy Emond) Blanchette. In July 1941, she married the love of her life, Raymond Thomas Kreft. They were married for 49 years and had five children. Lorraine worked at Wheeler Reflector during WWII. In 1957, the family moved to California. During these years, Lorraine earned her Nursing Assistant degree; her first job was at the Motion Picture Hospital. In 1968, the family moved to Lake Havasu City and became true pioneers. Lorraine worked at Vernco and then was hired as one of the first nurses’ aides at Havasu Community Hospital, where she worked until her retirement. She loved cheering for the Phoenix Suns; one highlight of her life was attending a Suns’ game, where Charles Barkley waved to her in the stands. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Raymond William Kreft; brother, Roland Blanchette and sister, Claire DuPuis. She is survived by sons, William (Kitty) Kreft, of Vista, Calif.; Thomas Kreft; daughters, Carol (Dave) Keaveney and Lorna (Thomas) Sanders, all of Lake Havasu City; grandchildren, Robert Kreft, Scott Kreft, Joe Kreft, Jennifer Bridgens, Loray Paul, Thomas Keaveney, Thomas Sanders, William Sanders, Dylan Kreft and Raena Samons; nine great-grandchildren; her sister, Theresa (Charlie) Mendes, of Taunton, Mass. and numerous nieces and nephews. Lorraine’s greatest love was for her husband, family and beloved pets. A Memorial Mass will take place Saturday, Nov. 16 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church at 1 p.m., preceded by recitation of the Rosary at 12:30 p.m. Burial will be at Lake Havasu Memorial Gardens followed by a reception at the church.
