Nick Yolla, 91, passed away after a brief illness. He was born to Generoso Yolla and Elveria Lizza Nov. 25, 1922, in Osceola Mills, Pa.
Nick served as a U.S. Marine during World War II, and was honorably discharged having earned a good conduct medal. He married his sweetheart, Judith, in 1946. He worked as a welder.
The family moved to Brentwood, N.Y., which was their home for 37 years until they moved to Lake Havasu City in 1981. He was in various organizations and was a recipient of “The Good Guy Award.” He was a proud member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, DAV, VFW and United Blood Services donating more than 15 gallons of blood.
Family and education meant everything to him later, earning his high school diploma in 1970. Nick loved spending time with his family, having many adventures with his grandkids and seeing all of his great-grandchildren. He also loved reading, volunteering and going to daily mass.
His parents, brother, and five sisters precede him in death. He is survived by Judy, his loving wife of 67 years; sons, Nicholas Yolla (Joanne) and John Yolla; daughters, Laura Masche (Bill) and Barbara Palmieri (Steve); nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.
Visitation is today at Lietz-Fraze Chapel from 5–8 p.m., with a Rosary said at 7 p.m. Mass is Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church with Father Chauncey and Father Lawrence officiating. Burial follows at Lake Havasu Memorial Gardens with Military Honor performed by VFW Post #9401 and American Legion #81.
