Kingman Daily Miner, Kingman, AZ - Published on November 10, 2013 - Lyle Ekstrom passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2013 in Kingman. He was born in Washburn, N.D. in 1929. Lyle served in the armed forces and it is in Germany where he met and married Margarite Born in 1953. His loving wife preceded him in death, Aug. 14, 2011. They are now together again after 57 years of marriage. Together they moved to Washburn in 1954 and lost their first child, Nancy Ekstrom, shortly after birth. They later moved to Fergus Falls, Minn., with their two children Lee and Lorelei. They lost their son, Lee to Hodgkin's disease in 1982 at the age of 26. Their third daughter, Jacqueline was born in 1962. In 1966 they moved to Hawthorne, Nev., and in 1985 they moved to the Kingman area. Lyle is survived by his two daughters, Lorelei and Jackie; their two daughters, Amanda and Jordan; and Amanda's two children, Hank and Sadie Torres. A special thank you to Glenn and Marsha Massey who were very close friends of Lyle's and looked after him with love and care. A special thanks to Kingman Regional Medical Center, who took such good care of him in his final days. Our father, grandfather and great-grandfather will be missed, but we know that he is in the presence of the Lord. A celebration of Lyle's life will be held at a later date in Ventura, Calif., where his ashes will be spread with his loving wife, Margarite.
