The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 12/17/2013 Paul J. Candelaria, 89, died Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2013, in Lakeside at Sierra Blanca Rehabilitation Center. He was born Oct. 7, 1924, in Concho, the son of Fermin Candelaria and Cresencia Jaramillo Candelaria. Paul served his country in the United States Army from 1942-44 during World War II and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a construction foreman for Peter Kiewit Sons, retiring in 1989. He loved his wife of 70 years and cared for and protected his family. His godchildren are spread over several states and range in age from their 60s to teens. Paul is survived by his wife, Concie Candelaria of Concho; godsons: James R. Hensley, Jason R. Hensley, Steven Padilla, Michael Padilla, Daniel Padilla, all of Arizona; goddaughters: Diane Salas of Colorado, JoAnn Lopez of New Mexico, Concie Hensley, Arlene Ballejos, Charlotte Armendariz and Jessica Padilla, all of Arizona.
