Lyle L. Donovan, of Sunsites died at home on December 19, 2013 at the age of 92.
He was born in Gage, Oklahoma on July 28, 1921 to Carl William Donovan and Pearl Jacoby Donovan.
Lyle was a farmer in childhood, was a WW II Veteran serving in the US Navy Seabees. Was a pioneer in Rural Telephone Expansion and Long Term Management and was the 1st manager of Valley Telephone Coop from 1963 to 1984 and was responsible for its successful expansion.
For 26 years he served as a board member of the Tohono O’Odham Utility Authority in Sells, Arizona. Lyle was a single Digit Handicap Golfer and taught his grandchildren the game of golf; he loved to travel, fish and his ice cream. He was a member of the Willcox Elks Lodge#2131, Willcox Masonic Lodge #10 F & AM, Sabbar Shrine and was a roadrunner, driving the little yellow cars.
On September 30, 1941 in Buffalo, Oklahoma he married Bobbie Jewel who survives him. Also surviving is his son Dennis of Bisbee and his daughters Debra (John) Francis of Silver City, NM and Darla (Jim) Harguess of Queen Creek, AZ and 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. His brother Rev. Bill (Peggy) Donovan of Shawnee, OK also survives him.
Lyle was a loving and supportive father and was an all around good guy.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, December 22, 2013 at Westlawn Chapel. Burial will follow in Sunset Cemetery. For the loving care that was given to Lyle by hospice please contribute to the Charles Wm Leighton Jr. Hospice, P.O. Box 115, Willcox, Arizona 85644.
