Kingman Daily Miner, Kingman, AZ - Published on December 18, 2013 - Marie Anne Smith passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2013, after a long illness. Marie was the daughter of Margaret (Creighton) and William Gauthier. She was born in the Bronx, N.Y., in 1929, and attended schools in Staten Island and Mamaroneck, N.Y. During that time, she enjoyed growing up with her dear friends Nicky and Aurora and they were inseparable. In 1949, she married Thomas Acciavatti, moved to Monticello, N.Y., and had their only son, John, born in 1952. She became an executive administrator for Decca Records, where she met all of Hollywood's great musicians and movie stars. Her second marriage was to John Cassone from 1956 until his death in 1976. During this time, Marie worked her way up the ranks at AeroJet Aeronautics and retired after 25 years. Marie then, in 1977, married David Smith, and the two traveled the country in their RV and flew throughout the U.S. After their travel adventures, they settled in Arizona and lived there until his passing in 2001. She is survived by her son, John Acciavatti and his wife, Nancy, of Yonkers, N.Y.; six grandchildren, Thomas of Philadelphia, Christopher of Durham, N.C., Peter of Yonkers, Patricia of North Bergen, N.J., Jennifer of White Plains, N.Y., and MaryAnn of Yonkers. Marie enjoyed having many friends, loved them all, and cherished her times with Dave, Ilene and John, and Joanne. Marie also loved her hats, and loved to be with her friends and sisters of the Red Hatters Club. She was an avid poker machine player and loved Harrah's Casino in Laughlin and Las Vegas. She was remembered in a private ceremony at her residence and arrangements for her resting place will be at a later date.
