David Lee Vander Bie, 75, was transported peacefully from his earthly tent to his Heavenly home Thursday, Dec. 19, 2013 with his family at his side at the Polidori House.
David was born in Holland, Mich. to Evelyn and Harold Vander Bie. He is survived by his beloved wife, Helene; daughters, Pamela Bertrand (Mark), of Arizona, Michelle DeLange (David), of Montana and Lesa Vander Bie, of California; grandsons, David, of Montana, Bradley, of Oregon, Westen, of Arizona and Garret, of New Mexico; sister, Patricia Fortney; brother-in-laws, Dale Nyboer (Bertha), of Lake Havasu City and Carl Nyboer (Ruth), of California and many nieces and nephews.
David and his wife Helene were married October 1956 in San Diego, Calif. where he served in the U.S. Navy. They moved to Lake Havasu City from Michigan with their three daughters in 1969. David will be deeply missed by many people in the community, as he will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor and as a man of high integrity. He was always ready to share his testimony of faith and love for his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
David was a professional trim carpenter known for his distinguishing high quality of workmanship. Over his 44 years in Lake Havasu City, he worked on numerous homes as the population grew. In 2003, David was selected American Worker of the Year, for the State of Arizona.
A Celebration of Life will be at Lake Havasu Baptist Church, Dec. 22 at 2 p.m.
