Yuma Sun, Yuma, Arizona - Published in The Yuma Sun from Dec. 18 to Dec. 19, 2013 - Debbie Rae Nelson passed away Friday, December 13, 2013 in Yuma, AZ. A long-time resident of Wellton and Dateland, she was born in San Marcos, Texas, April 5, 1958 and grew up moving many places with her military family to Virginia, Alabama, Massachusetts, Washington, Idaho, Alaska, Panama and Arizona. She attended Yuma High School, Balboa High School in Panama, and she graduated from Eisenhower High School in Houston, Texas. She attended NAU. Debbie worked in the mental health profession for many years. Debbie is survived by her long-time companion, Rick Riggins; two sons, Ryan Nelson and Jordan Nelson (Lisa Harris); one grandson, Josh Nelson; her parents, Lieutenant Colonel Morris Jessup and Sharon Jessup; brothers, Michael Jessup (Karen), Morris L Jessup (Ashley), and Tim Saelens; sister, Jeannie Sylvester (Rick). There will be no service, but her family will celebrate her life, during the holidays, at one of her favorite places, Sears Point. Memorial donations can be made to Wellton Friends of the Library with which she was a long-time volunteer.
