HUMELHANS, Ronald (Ron) Frank

The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Wednesday, December 25, 2013 Ronald Frank Humelhans, 72, of Prescott Valley, Ariz., passed away peacefully March 17, 2013. He was born in South Bend, Ind. Ron moved to Phoenix with his parents, Frank and Anna Mae, and younger brother William Michael in 1949. (William's future wife is Barbara Jean). He loved to ride motorcycles and horses. Ron attended Sunnyslope High with Alice Cooper (no joke). He married in 1960, had Timothy Lee in 1961 and Tambra Susae in 1964. Ron was drafted into the Army after getting divorced at the age of 26. He was injured, came home disabled, then remarried in 1970. He had Melissa Renee in 1971. He divorced again in 1972. He loved taking his kids camping, fishing and roller skating. He became a grandpa in 1982 to John Mesa (Tambra and Pete); in 1988 to Samantha Humelhans (Tim and Becky) and to Susae June (Tambra and John); in 1990 to Robert Stapleton; and in 1992 to Frank Stapleton (Melissa and Robert). He met the love of his life, Marlene Middaugh, in 1988 in Prescott. They married in 1992, and built their home in Prescott Valley in 1994. They loved taking the grandkids to Disneyland. They were avid collectors of many things throughout the years. He became great-grandpa in 2003 to Serena Mesa (John and Debra). Marlene's family treated him very well. Ron had the life he always wanted. After Marlene's passing in 2008, he was never the same. When his health started to fail, his daughter Melissa came to live with him with her husband Verne Sundquist and son Frank. This was hard on him, relying on his daughter for home care. He was later put in Hospice of the Pines to make his life more comfortable. He passed away at home, where Marlene had also passed. Please call (928) 848-7619 for those who would like to honor his memory. Come to Denny's from 2 to 4 p.m. on Dec. 28, 2013, to raise a cup to Ron. (We will pay for your coffee). Thanks to everyone who entered his life and made it better. Information provided by survivors.
