Kevin Robert Smith, 24, of Tempe, Arizona, passed away outside of his
home on January 3rd 2012. He was born in Phoenix, Arizona to Patrice and
Paul Smith. Kevin was raised in the Prescott area of Northern Arizona.
Kevin attended Bradshaw Mountain High School in Prescott Valley,
Arizona. He was active in football, basketball and track. Kevin started
his political debates while in high school. He graduated in 2005 with
his best friend Kerwin Ross. Kevin later went on to receive his
Bachelor Degree in Political Science from Arizona State University in
2010. His family was proud. Kevin accomplished the ability of first
family University graduate, while working at Harkins Theatres.
Kevin was an active, lively member of Cholla Residence Hall. He
volunteered at the V.A. in Prescott and joined in on numerous activities
of his dorm. Kevin was proud and excited to attend A.S.U. Kevin has
always been the fun, sober, designated driver both on and off campus.
Mr. Smith, as he was commonly known by his Harkins Theatres peers, was a
lively person always willing to jump at the chance to debate. He enjoyed
reading, riding his bike, jogging, hiking, snowboarding and gaming with
friends. Kevin was happiest when playing basketball and spending time at
home with Oliver. He enjoyed watching Smallville, Supernatural and the
49ers. Kevin was an avid Star Wars fan. He won his first Nintendo game
at age 2 while spending time with grandpa.
As an employee at Go Daddy.Com, Kevin strived towards a career as a Web
Developer utilizing his knowledge and enjoyment in working with
computers.
KevKev, as the family fondly called him, was the middle child. He was
picked on by the older siblings, and was the proud older brother of
Cody. He tutored Cody, as well as many other students with their Math
studies while attending A.S.U.
Kevin was preceded in death by his Grandfather Robert Belk, Grandmother
Louise Bailey, Uncle Rory Belk and Aunt Bonnie Belk.
Kevin is survived by his mother and stepfather, Patrice and Harold
Rouse, father, Paul Smith, brother’s Stephan White and Cody Rouse,
sister Cherise White, nephew Brennon White, cousins Ryan and Susan Belk
and Jim (Jessi) Gillihan. Kevin also leaves behind numerous close
friends including Kerwin Ross, Darcy Knight and Oliver Wolken.
A memorial celebration of Kevin’s life was held for close friends and
co-workers at Kiwanis Park; Tempe, Arizona on Monday January 9th, 2012.
The park was one of Kevin’s favorite places to spend his time.
The family can’t thank all of you enough who were part of Kevin’s life.
Thank you so much for your memory books and life stories. Kevin will be
so missed by all of those whose lives have been touched by him.
