Velma Octavian (Whinery) Owens Born in Bryant, Oklahoma on June 29, 1910. Departed on Feb. 21, 2003 and resided in Cottonwood, Ariz. Velma Octavian Owens,92, a long time resident of Cottonwood, Ariz.,(Bridgeport) died on Friday, February 21st. She was born in Bryant, Oklahoma on June 29, 1910. A homemaker, Velma lived in Arizona for 84 years. Mrs. Owens was a long time and devoted member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Diamond Chapter #7. She was married to Albert (Bert) Owens who died on October 10th, 2000. Mrs. Owens is survived by a son: Albert Owens of Sun City West, Ariz.; two daughters: Jeanette Wallace of Los Alamos, N. M., Debra Marten of Steamboat Springs, Colo., eleven grandchildren and fifteen great- grandchildren. A visitation will be held on Friday, February 28th at the Westcott Funeral Home 1013 E. Mingus Avenue, Cottonwood, Ariz. at 11:00 a.m. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Valley View Cemetery, Clarkdale, Arizona. Westcott Funeral Home, Cottonwood, Arizona.
