Opal C. (Sue) Whitely, 90, of Scottsdale, AZ passed away February 16, 2006. She was born February 2, 1916 in Harrisburg, PA and preceded in death by her husband, Lt. Colonel Grover C. Whitely, Jr. on February 6, 2006. Opal is survived by her children, Suzanne Cleaver, Marta Gay Whitely, Grover C. Whitely, III (Chip), grandsons, Zach and Josh Cleaver, and brother, Chet Crossley. Pre-wake prayer services were held Wednesday, February 22, 2006 at Hansen Desert Hills Chapel, 6500 E. Bell Rd., Scottsdale with interment at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Rd., Phoenix. Arrangements entrusted to Hansen Desert Hills Mortuary, 480-991-5800. Published in The Arizona Republic on 2/22/2006.
