Willie Margaret Anderson
A city pioneer, Willie Anderson passed away peacefully at her home Sunday, April 28, 2002. She was a beloved mother of seven children, survived by five daughters. She was 89 year old. Willie was born on Aug. 23, 1912, in McAlester, Okla., to John and Hester Boatright.
Willie and her husband, Oscar, moved to Arizona in the mid-1930's, marrying on May 25, 1935, and settling in Prescott where they raised their seven children. In 1963, Willie and Oscar moved to Lake Havasu City, where Oscar worked as a construction superintendent for D.C. Speer Co., the firm which built the first roads there. Following Oscar's retirement in 1977, the two traveled extensively in Europe, Afica and the U.S. Willie and Oscar were active members of Victory Chapel in Lake Havasu City.
She is survived by daughters, Betty Magby of Prescott, Wanda Kaiahua of Glendale, Calif., Margaret Palmer of San Jose, Calif., Linda Brant of Glendale, Calif., and Sandra Hereford of San Pedro, Calif. Also surviving are her sister, Jean Lay of Camp Verde, and sisters-in-law, Mary Boatright of Lovington, N.M., and Ruby Boatright of Norwalk, Calif., as well as 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Oscar, who passed away in 1992, and sons, John Anderson, who passed away in 1979, and Edwin Anderson, who passed away in 1998.
Funeral services were held this morning at Victor Chapel, with Pastors Gary March and Buddy Ryals officiating.
Interment will take place on Thursday, May 2, at 2 p.m. at Mountain View Cemetery, 1051 Willow Creek Road in Prescott.
Arangements were made by Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home of Lake Havasu City.
