The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 01/03/2014 Eveline L. Brugge-Roth, 86, resident of St. Johns, was called home by her heavenly father Dec. 28, 2013. She was born Dec. 17, 1927, in Jakarta, Indonesia. She is a Japanese concentration camp survivor. She then moved to the Netherlands and on to the United States in 1960. Eveline was a very strong-willed person; she didn’t want anyone to go hungry, she liked to help people, and she was very caring and a hard worker. Eveline is survived by her sons, Eric Knoester (Mireya) of Simi Valley, Calif.; Martin Knoester (Tammy) Espanola of New Mexico; daughter Gerda Knoester-Johnson of St. Johns; stepdaughters Linda Falwell and Debbie LaFourcade, both of Oregon; brothers Eddie Brugge and Albert Brugge; sister Gerda Brugge-Kiemeney, both of the Netherlands; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband Arie Knoester; second husband Wolf Roth; daughter Elizabeth Rossi; sons Arie Knoester and Ronald Knoester; father Conrad Brugge and mother Geertruida Boekholt Brugge. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 4, at the St. Johns Stake Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Burnham Mortuary of St. Johns handled arrangements.
