Arizona Daily Sun, Flagstaff, Arizona, Friday, January 03, 2014 Audine "Dean" Wyrick, 80, died Dec. 23, 2013, in Chandler. Services will be today at 1 p.m., at First Baptist Church in Winslow. Greer's Mortuary of Winlsow is handling the arrangements. ~~~~~~~~~~ Greer’s Mortuary of Winslow, Winslow, Arizona Audine "Dean" Wyrick November 23, 1933 - December 31, 2013 Dean was born to William Sneed Hodge and Ruby Leona Hodge on November 23, 1933 on a share cropper farm near Lubbock, TX. She moved to Winslow in 1937 and graduated from Winslow High in 1952. She was the first woman to be awarded 4 stripes on her Letter Sweater. Audine was also the first female Drum Major and first woman Drum Major allowed to wear pants. Her favorites singers were Hank Williams, Sr., Loretta Lynn and Tennesse Ernie Ford. She loved to sing and dance, but most of all loved her kids. She always gave, never took and was always fair. Her first love was family and making a safe place for her children. She also worked at Douglas Market, Safeway and Witt Insurance. She loved to watch the Olympics on TV. She is survived by her children, Helen Margurite Beulen, Rainey (Elaine) Wyrick Stone; sisters, Joy Hodge Jackson and Bonnie Mae Hodge Morrill; grandchildren, Setiva Devitt, Jasmyn Gibson; great grandchildren, Clay Thomas, Steven Devitt, Bryant Devitt, Draven Gibson & Jayden Gibson. Aunt Dean also raised Lisa, Brent, Suzanne, Danny & Perry Wyrick. For that matter, “Momma Dean" opened her heart and her home to all her nieces, nephews, friends, and their friends........ Preceded in death by her parents, William & Ruby Hodge; siblings, Wanda Faye Hodge Russell, Donnie Bill Hodge, and nephew Brent Wyrick.
