MCCORMICK, Albert William (Al)

Kingman Daily Miner, Kingman, AZ - Published on January 3, 2014 - Albert William McCormick decided to leave this earth Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2013. Al was born April 22, 1942, in Rochester, N.Y. He passed away at the age of 71 in Kingman. He was happily married to his wife, Barbara Jane Johnston, for 50 years. Al and Barbara have three sons: Robert Anthony (Julie) McCormick of Apache Junction, Richard Albert (Sheri) McCormick of Kingman and Randy James (Shawn) McCormick of Kingman. Albert had seven grandchildren and one on the way. Albert worked in the trucking industry for most of his working life. That career brought his family to Kingman in 1984. Albert retired from FedEx Freight in 2007. Albert spent the early years of his retirement fishing and boating at Temple Bar Marina. Fishing was his passion. Shortly after retirement, Al was diagnosed with cancer. The next four years of his life were spent fighting cancer with determination and courage, but he was overcome with the disease. He now sleeps pain-free. Al was a great man who loved helping people with any project they might have. The family is grateful for the Joan and Diana Hospice House, where he spent the last few days of his life. The staff was very helpful and made sure he was comfortable. Rest in peace, my love. We will see you on the other side.
