Carl William Nelson went to be with our Lord on Dec. 18, 2013 at his home in Kingman with his loving wife, Bonnie Jean, and best friend Buddy Loesch by his side. He was 78 years old and was born in Illinois on April 29, 1935.
His parents came from Sweden and settled in Rockford, Ill. In this union, 12 children were born. He is survived by one brother, Knuts, who resides in Illinois with his wife, Phyllis. Carl was fluent in Spanish and spoke some Italian, Swedish and Korean. He served in the U.S. Army from 1957-1960. During the Korean War, he was awarded a good conduct medal for being a rifle marksman and also went through a chemical biological radiological course. He was transferred for four years to the Army Corps Reserve. He moved from Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. in 1996. He started working at Albertsons until the store closed. He then worked part-time at JC Penny until he retired.
He had four stepchildren whom he loved very much: Donna (Joe) Callison, Cynthia (Kurtis) Nelson, Jerad (Adrienne) Loesch and Jennifer (Jeff) Succuro. He was so very proud of his 12 grandchildren and enjoyed every visit. He also had two great-grandsons and many nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear extended family and friends. He loved his dear friends Mrs. Vera Bailey and her daughter, Steve and T.J. Shaw and family, and Mr. and Mrs. Rudy Ohnersorgen.
Carl never met a stranger and was generous of heart and always helped others with his time and talents.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
