Avelino E Diaz, 74, of 2103 E Harrison, died yesterday in Doctors Hospital.

He retired from the State Highway Department six years ago and was a veteran of World War I.  He came here from Puerto Rico 45 years ago.

Surviving are two sons, Antonio and Carlos both of Phoenix; a daughter, Mrs. Ann Rone of Phoenix, and 26 grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 am.
