The Verde Independent, Cottonwood, Arizona Saturday, January 04, 2014 Susan Mary Byrd, 72, of Cottonwood passed away on Thursday, December 26, 2013. She was born in Minnesota on August 27, 1941, but grew up in Phoenix with her parents, Thomas E. and Eleanor Ruby Ward, graduating from West High School. She worked for Pacific Bell and AT&T for over 30 years before retiring. She was a member of Pioneer Girls and enjoyed making jewelry. She loved her four dogs. Susan was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Eleanor Ward. She is survived by her son, Ward "Kevin" (Cheryl) Steward and one grandson, Shawn Steward. Private family services have been held, but memorial donations in Susan's name may be made to Northern Arizona Hospice, 203 S. Candy Lane, Cottonwood, AZ 86326.
