Meldrum Mortuary & Crematory, Mesa, Arizona Manuel G Gaytan July 17, 1921 - December 31, 2013 Our beloved father, Manuel G. Gaytán, passed away at home in Mesa, Arizona, on December 31, 2013, in the presence of his loving family. He was born July 17, 1921, in Mendoza, Zacatecas, Mexico to Jacobo Gaytán and Mariana González de Gaytán, and was the oldest of twelve children. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and faithfully served in many callings in the church, that included local stake mission callings. Missionary work was uppermost in his priorities and so he took every opportunity to share the gospel with others. He currently has three grandsons serving full-time missions in Hungary, Mexico City, and Oregon. He was loved and cherished by his family and leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion and service to others. Manuel was preceded in death by his daughter, Mariana. He is survived by his wife, of 67 years, Martha, and his remaining seven children: Obed (Lucy), Levi (Eloina), Nohemi, Jared, Ithamar (Richard), Lehi (Debra), Ivonne (Cesar), 27 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, with two more on the way. Visitation for Manuel will be held Monday, January 6, from 6-8pm at Meldrum Mortuary, 52 N. Macdonald, Mesa, AZ, 85201. Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 7, at 10am, at the LDS church building at 1500 E. 6th Ave, Mesa, AZ 85204. There will be visitation from 9-10am prior to funeral services. Internment will be at the Mesa City Cemetary, 1212 N. Center St. 85201, immediately following funeral services.
