Meldrum Mortuary & Crematory, Mesa, Arizona Pat Marva Clark Brainard July 9, 1918 - January 1, 2014 Pat Marva Clark Brainard was born July 9, 1918 in Thatcher, Arizona to Milan and Della Nelson and passed away January 1, 2014. A life well lived, and a testimony of Jesus Christ that never wavered. She set her bar high and was the keystone of her family. Pat was the third of five children. Her sisters are Leora Toftdahl (deceased) Evelyn Mill, Midge Mikkelson and brother Bing Nelson. When Pat was 8 her family moved to Los Angeles then to Junction City, Oregon when she was 10. Pat married Charles L Clark in 1941, and worked at Coronado Island at the post exchange during WWII. In 1950 she returned to Arizona with her husband and two sons, Lenny 4 and Craig a new born. Craig drown on the Colorado River at the age of 3. Bradley Charles joined the family in 1958. Chuck passed away 1982. Accomplishments: Captain of the debate team in high school. Pat won the world's sales contest for Beauty Councilor Cosmetics in 1955, She originated Jenny's Sample Fashions 1965. She had 2 stores. She was an avid water skier and loved family picnics. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and fulfilled many ward and stake callings. Pat married Donald Brainard in 1985 and the two of them crossed the United Stated ballroom dancing. Donald died 1999 after which she traveled to many Asian countries and Hawaii with her family. She is survived by sons Lenny Clark (Julie), Brad Clark (Cheryl), 11 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Pat has treasured the love and respect of friends and neighbors over the years. The family wishes to thank all of you for the many kindness to her. She will be greatly missed. The viewing will be held Monday, January 6 from 6-8 PM at the LDS Beverly Chapel, 1054 W 2nd Place Mesa, AZ 85201. The Funeral will be held Tuesday, January 7 at 10 AM at the same address. In lieu of flowers, Pat said she would like you to contribute to the LDS Church Missionary fund either by giving through a ward near you or at www.ldsphilanthropies.org/missionary. Meldrum Mortuary handled the arrangements.
