Simon Alderete, whose life was saved by the intervention of Acting Governor Stoddard some time ago, was stabbed and killed by a prisoner named Francisco Garcia last Monday. Alderete was the man who killed the traveling painter at Prescott last winter and was sentenced to be hung. Garcia is a very bad sort of man. He is always causing trouble at the prison.
