Glenna Rose Crandell Hathcock Shumway, 83, died Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014, at the home of her daughter in Springerville. She was born May 2, 1930, in Aripine, the daughter of Donald Glen and Ruth Mae Webb Crandell, the third of eight children.
Glenna married Leslie Adrian Hathcock Dec. 15, 1947, and they had 13 children, with 10 living; five boys and five girls.
Adrian passed away Aug. 7, 1974. She married James Walter Shumway Feb. 6, 2010.
Glenna was a loving, caring, multitalented person who shared her many talents with others through her candy-making, cooking, sewing, crafts and her whistling. She had a beautiful voice and always sang to her children and passed on her love for music to them. She loved everyone and they loved her. She never met a stranger. Glenna will be remembered by the beautiful smile that she always had.
Glenna is survived by her husband, James Walter Shumway of Mesa; sons: Monte (Leanne) Hathcock, Russell (Diane) Hathcock, both of Aztec, N.M., Jerry (Susan) Hathcock of Eagar; Mark (Maria) Hathcock of Aztec, N.M., and Philip (Michelle) Hathcock of Aztec, N.M.; daughters: Shirley (Leonard) Taylor of Sandy, Utah, Deborah (John) Bennett of Eagar, Toni (Richard) Davis of Springerville, Sherri (Jim) McDaniel of Maricopa, Dianne (Clay) Finch of Eagar; brothers: Dutch (Betty) Crandell of Mesa; Delbert (Joy) Crandell of Mesa; Donovan (Sondra) Fairview of Oregon; J.R. Crandell of Mesa; sisters: Kathryn Morris of Bloomfield, N.M., Julia Uchytil of Mesa; Harriet (Charlie) Rush of Mesa; 51 grandchildren, 85 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
A viewing was held Jan. 9 at Burnham Mortuary. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Farmington, N.M., First Ward Building, 1310 E. 25th St., with visitation one hour prior.
Interment will follow services at the Green Lawn Cemetery in Farmington, N.M., 1606 N. Dustin Ave.
