THORNTON, Lucile

Lucile Thornton, 86, of Midland, Texas was reunited with her lifelong sweetheart, Joe Thornton, her husband of 65 years, Tuesday, March 2, 2004. Prior to joining her departed loved ones, Lucile resided at Saddleridge Lodge in Midland with her devoted pet, Prissy. Lucile was born March 10, 1918 to Macon Toler and Mary Catherine Smith Toler in Laurel, Mississippi and was raised and educated there. She was a member of Fannin Terrace Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Mary Catherine Allums and Mildred Reed, brothers, Macon Roy Toler and William Gene Toler and nieces and nephews. Lucile is survived by her daughters, Carol Swain and husband, Pete, of Midland, TX; Marty Temple of Midland, TX; grandchildren, Orlando Temple, Jr., of Dallas, TX; Joe Dan Jay and wife, Nancy, of Seabrook, TX; John Mark Jay and wife, Ann, of Canyon Lake, TX; Jennifer Newland and husband, Richard, of Katy, TX; Carol Jo Wilson and husband, Gary, of Midland, TX; Lou Swain and wife, Sharla, of Midland, TX; 20 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter; niece, Evelyn Allen and husband, Charlie, of Pearl, MS; nephew, Charles Reed and wife, Lela, and sister-in-law, Jean Toler of Laurel, MS. Funeral services Friday, March 5, 2004 at Ellis Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Douglas Lamb officiating. Interment at Resthaven Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home, 801 Andrews Hwy. Midland, Texas. Pallbearers Lou Swain, Gary Wilson, Andy Snyder and Tom Aylesworth.
