Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home, Prescott, Arizona William A. Gary November 21, 1924 ~ January 12, 2014 William Gary died Sunday, January 12, 2014 at Banner Good Samaritan Hospital in Phoenix. He was born November 21, 1924 in Dallas, Texas; the son of Alvin and Katherine (Fitch) Gary. William was 89 years old. He is survived by his loving and caring wife of 66 years, Marion Helen (Luken) Gary, daughter Katherine McCraine and her husband Swayze of Prescott, brother Creighton Gary and his wife Betty Lou of Dallas, Texas. William was a member of the American Society of Arms Collectors, Texas A&M Alumi Association and a life member of the National Rifle Association. He founded the Marine Military Academy in Harlington, TX, as chairman of the Phippen Museum capital campaign he raised $2.5 million to double its size and he enjoyed collecting antique Civil War firearms.
