Frances D. Chacon

Frances D. Chacon, 92 of Winslow, AZ, recently residing in Chandler, AZ with family, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2014. Born to Lucas and Matilda Dominguez on October 19, 1921 in El Paso, Texas, she relocated to Winslow, AZ as a young child. As the oldest of 9, she obtained odd jobs in an effort to assist her parents during the Great Depression.
In 1951, she married the love of her life, Encarnacion (Chuck) Chacon and remained in Winslow where she reared her children until she returned to work in 1971 to help in the family run business, Store for Men, Inc. As a member of the Rosary Altar Society for 35 years, Catholic Daughters for 74 years, and a Eucharistic Minister, she was an active member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and Resurrection Parish. While known for her humility, she took pride in the way she carried herself with elegance, Avon skin care and occasionally a new pair of shoes. She was the embodiment of faith, devotion, service to her community and above all unconditional love for family and friends.
Frances is survived by her four children: John Chacon of Mesa, AZ, Mary Lopez of Chandler, AZ, Eddie Chacon (Terry) of Redlands, CA and Sarah Andrews (Jim) of Phoenix, AZ, her sister, Clara O’Campo of San Bernardino, CA, sister-in-law Mary Dominguez, of Hayward, CA, brother in law Wilfred Otero of Los Lunas, NM, and cousin Angie Diaz, of Bellflower, CA. Along with many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by ten grandchildren: Lupe, Cynthia, Nicole, Jay, Rene, Matthew, Christina, Brandon, Elizabeth, and Eric; six great grandchildren, six great great grandchildren and countless others who have come to call her Nana.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Encarnacion Chacon, grandson Steven Lopez, parents Lucas & Matilda Dominguez, siblings Jose, Jose Dolores, Leonor, Isidoro, Lucas, Joe, and Cecelia, and son in law Tomas Lopez.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix, AZ 85014
Rosary will be recited at 9:30 am with the Funeral Mass to follow at 10:00, on Friday, January 17, 2014 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Winslow, AZ 86047. Interment to follow at Desert View Cemetery.
