He was born June 20, 1953 in Phoenix to Mina Jewel Brooks. First and foremost, Larry loved the Lord Jesus Christ. He asked Jesus to forgive him of his sins and save him on Jan. 28, 1978. He never lost the wonder of his salvation and loved to listen to Bible based preaching and talking about his Savior. He lived in a number of different cities in Arizona and Texas during his childhood. He graduated from Polytechnic High School in Riverside in 1972. In 1977, he moved to Phoenix, where he met the love of his life; the two were married in 1979. They had two daughters, Julie and Laura. Laura went to be with Jesus at the time of her birth. Julie was always very near and dear to her father’s heart. Larry also had one grandson, Ethan; the two of them were great buddies. They spent many hours building Lego sets together. In addition to his family, Larry had a soft place in his heart for the family dogs; they provided him with so much love and companionship. Larry worked in the pre-hung door industry for over 30 years in the Mesa-Phoenix area. He worked in a number of door shops over his career. He moved his family to Lakeside in 2007. It was his dream to live in the mountains amidst the pine trees and the elk. For the first few years, he was physically able to do outdoor activities he enjoyed so much; but gradually they became too difficult for him. He rarely complained of his pain and limitations. “We are so grateful that now in Heaven he has a new, pain free body. He loved his family so dearly and God alone knows how deeply he will be missed.” He is survived by his wife Marilyn Brooks; daughter Julie Brooks; brothers: Jess (Lynda) Perkins, Ed (Chris) Perkins, Willie Ray (Joann) Perkins, and Butch (Charlotte) Perkins. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mina Jewel Brooks and infant daughter Laura Camlin Brooks. Services were held Jan. 18 at Thompson Funeral Chapel in Goodyear.
