Eugene Brady O'Neill Is Suicide In Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES, July 16 - Eugene Brady O'Neill, formerly prominent in Arizona political circles, committed suicide by shooting himself through the head, as he sat on a bench in West Lake Park, here today.
Just before firing the shot, he wrote a long letter to his wife, Hon. Pauline M. O'Neill, member of the present Arizona legislature, explaining that he could not bear to live, knowing that he was losing his mind, and that his period of usefulness was over. He has been ill for several years, and it is thought recent business reverses also preyed on his mind.

Phoenix, July 16, - Eugene Brady O'Neill, who committed suicide in Los Angeles yesterday, was a famous Democrat of this State. He was a member of several Territorial legislatures, and together with his wife, made several trips to Washington in behalf of Statehood.
For five years, he has been in poor health. He left Phoenix on Sunday and went to Los Angeles, accompanied by his niece. They went to Santa Monica and took a cottage.
This morning, according to advices received here, he went up to Los Angeles, repaired to the park and ended his life.
He was a brother of Buckey O'Neill, the famous Prescott Rough Rider. His wife was the widow of Buckey O'Neill.
