Reaper Claims Pioneer Mine Owner
Following a brief illness, due to asthema, an affliction which he had been subjected to for many years, John McKinnon passed away in this city yesterday morning about 5 o’clock. He had returned only during the early part of the week from southern Arizona, where he had spent the winter for his health, and had stated the change of climate had proved decidedly beneficial.
He was arranging to return to his mining camp near Senator to resume development, stating that in all probability a sale would be consummated this summer, the proposition having been presented to a Pinal county operator and favorably received.
The death of Mr. McKinnon takes away another worthy pioneer of this section, and also one of the best citizens and most upright of men. He had been in this section for over 40 years, and in all that time he always bore for all a kindly word, and his generous nature gave him an excellent name. He was born about 70 years ago, a native of Great Britain, but was naturalized in 1875. His only known relative alive is a brother, C.M. McKinnon of Superior, Montana.
