The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, Arizona Wednesday, January 22, 2014 Walter ‘Jim” Shockey, 70, of Wickenburg was born on June 13, 1943 and passed away with Lou Gehrig’s disease (ALS) on Jan. 10. He is survived by sisters Joann Davis of Arizona and Linda Gardiner of Ohio; brother Bob Shockey of Arizona; daughter Laurie Brown and two grandchildren of Panama City, Fla. Walter “Jim” was preceded in death by daughter Jill Shockey of Ohio; brother Bill Schockey of South Carolina; mother Helen Shockey and father Walter Shockey Sr. of Ohio. He was a member of the American Legion Post 80 in St. Cloud, Fla., and Fraternal Order of Eagles 3496 in Orlando, Fla. He loved his biklng, traveling, camping and scuba diving. He will be missed. He also is survived by his longtime friend and partner Betty Shipley of Arizona. Arrangements are under the direction of Abel Funeral Services in Phoenix. No service is planned at this time.
