Yuma Sun, Yuma, Arizona - Published in The Yuma Sun from Jan. 22 to Jan. 23, 2014 - Ricardo Carlos, 61, of Somerton, Arizona, passed away unexpectedly on January 19, 2014 in Yuma, Arizona. He was born July 4, 1952 in Ejido Tabasco, Baja California Norte, Mexico. Ricardo was preceded in death by his father, Jesus Carlos and his brother, Eduardo (Lydia) Carlos. He is survived by his mother, Margarita Carlos of Somerton; his loving wife of 39 years, Armida Carlos; his daughter Adilia Belem (Chris) Kasid of San Luis, AZ; his sons, Ricardo Carlos Jr. and Fernando Carlos of Somerton, AZ; and he is also survived by the Joy of his life and horse riding partner his granddaughter, Cameron Kasid; sisters, Adela (Rosendo) Melendrez of Paredones, Baja California, Alicia (Felix) Negrete of Somerton, Elena (Rogelio) Ayala of Bell, California; brothers, Ruben (Maria Teresa) Carlos of Yuma, Everardo (Guadalupe) Carlos of San Luis, AZ, Luis (Maritza) Carlos of Yuma, Gustavo (Eva) Carlos of Somerton, Raul Carlos of Somerton, Javier (Flor) Carlos of Somerton; his in-laws, many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Ricardo and Armida moved to Los Angeles in 1976 from Sinaloa, Mexico where they started to raise a family. They moved to Somerton, Arizona in 1988 and were the owners and operators of Las Palmitas a successful variety store for 25 years on Main Street in Somerton. Ricardo and Armida were currently operating Churros El Abuelo on the Corner of Ave B and 8th Street in Yuma and on the weekends at the Yuma Park and Swap. A public viewing will be on Thursday, January 23, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. to midnight at Desert Valley Mortuary, 15877 S Avenue B, Somerton. Church Services will be on Friday, January 24, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 310 Spring St, Somerton with internment following at Desert Lawn Cemetery, 1415 S. 1st Ave, Yuma. A wake will be 5 p.m. to midnight Thursday at Desert Valley Mortuary Chapel, with rosary at 7:30 p.m. Father Tomas Munoz will officiate. Mass will be 10 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Somerton, with Father Munoz officiating. Burial will follow at Desert Lawn.
