Mabel Irene Doan, 91, died Jan. 18, 2014, at her residence in Eagar. She was born Sept. 23, 1922, in Ridgeway, Ohio.
Irene married the love of her life in 1940, Walter W. Doan, and was a homemaker. She moved to Glendale in 1956-57 for her children’s health; then she moved to Eagar in 1986 after Walter retired. She volunteered at the Food Bank, The Butterfly Lodge Museum in Greer and with various other organizations. She will be missed by her family and a host of friends.
Irene is survived by her son, Raymond “Butch” Doan of Eagar; grandsons Scott Tennant of Phoenix and David Hunt of Eagar; nephews E. Lee Wolford of Dahlgren, Va.; Charles Amrine of Suwanee, Ga.; and William Wilgus of Phoenix; and niece Pamala Tallman of Phoenix.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Walter W. Doan; daughter Jerilyn Ann Hunt; son-in-law Larry Hunt; and sisters Eleanor Wilgus and Betty Amrine.
As per her request, no services will be held.
