CANDELARIA, Vidal (Bill)


The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 01/24/2014 Vidal “Bill” Candelaria, 84, died Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014, in Eagar. He was born May 15, 1929, in Magdalena, N.M., the son of Roger and Delores Baca Candelaria. Bill served his country in the United States Navy beginning in 1947 and retiring as CTCS U.S. Navy in 1969. He was known for his deep family devotion and was an avid supporter of all things community and was especially supportive of the local schools. Bill was also a bus contractor. After retirement, Bill’s love of the outdoors led him to travel with his wife, Ursula, who he affectionately referred to as his “child bride” or “trophy wife.” He is survived by his wife, Ursula Lampe Candelaria of Quemado, N.M.; sons: Michael Candelaria of Quemado, N.M.; Scott Candelaria of Portales, N.M.; daughter Denise Candelaria-Harris of Richwood, Texas; sister Clara Jo Candelaria Fitch; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
