Carmen G. Garcia, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother passed away on Friday, January 17, 2014 at the age of 79.
She was born in Alamo, Texas on July 7th, 1934 but called Yuma, Arizona home these past 40 years. Carmen was married to her military husband for 53 years and enjoyed traveling and living in different areas around the country before his passing in 2010.
During her life she enjoyed working with children as a teacher's aide, Cub Scouts, and school PTA. She enjoyed many hobbies including gardening, sewing, knitting, puzzles, and was an avid reader. Being a homemaker, raising her children, and grandchildren Joshuah, Meghon, David, Jason, Jessie, and Jake is what brought her the greatest joy.
Carmen is survived by daughter Diana Smith of Yuma; son David Garcia of Yuma; and daughter Irma (Richard) Bratcher of Ridgway, Colorado; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Preceding her death was her husband Duberli Garcia of 53 years.
The viewing will be held at Johnson Mortuary from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary starting at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 24, 2014. Scripture Services will be at Johnson Mortuary at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 25, 2014. Interment will follow at Desert Lawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to Hospice Compassus in Carmen's name.
