SONS, Russell Kenneth


Rev. Russell Kenneth Sons, 82, of Phoenix, Arizona passed away on December 24, 2010. Russell was born May 6, 1928 in Sims, Illinois to Wesley and Ida Sons, and had 8 brothers and sisters. He moved to Phoenix when he was 16 years old, where he met the love of his life, his wife Neloise. He worked as a butcher for 48 years and was active in the Southern Baptist Church for 55 years. He was an avid runner, bicyclist, snow skier, astronomer and loved to sing. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Neloise. Together they had three daughters; Dorothy Goodwin (d. 2010) (Bill) of Phoenix, Beverly Howland (Doug) of Sedona, and Venus Gaines (Terry) of Scottsdale. Grandchildren; Colin James of Portland, Harmoni Boyles (Jake) of Mesa, Miranda Howland of Sedona and Kathryn Howland of St. Louis. Great grandchildren; Harrison and Henry James of Portland, Lincoln and Amena Boyles of Mesa. Brother, Ray Sons (Judy) of Phoenix. Services were held on January 8, 2011 at Hillside Baptist Church 1344 W. Thunderbird Phoenix, AZ The Arizona Republic January 2, 2011
