Daily Arizona Silver Belt, Globe, Arizona Territory Sunday, March 17, 1907, page 1, col. 5 Frank Genung Wandered from Harqua Hala While Suffering with Fever Phoenix, Ariz., March 15 A special to the Republican from Salome says that the body of Frank Genung was found three miles west of Harqua Hala, a desert mining camp in Yuma county yesterday. The left foot was caught in the crouch of a tree three feet above the ground, and he had not been dead over two hours. The verdict of the coroner's jury was that death resulted from exposure, exhaustion and injured received while wandering in the mountains suffering of dementia, caused by fever which had affected his brain. He wandered from Harqua Hala the morning of the 14th. -------------------------------------- Weekly Journal Miner, Prescott, Arizona Territory Sunday, March 17, 1907 Funeral Notice - The funeral of the late Frank Genung will take place from Ruffner’s chapel, this afternoon, at 4 o’clock. ------------------------------------- Prescott Evening Courier, Prescott, Arizona Territory Monday, March 18, 1907, page 3 Death of Frank Genung Saturday last, the dead body of Frank Genung was found under a tree two and one-half miles this side of Harqua Hala camp, where he was conducting business. He had been in poor health, had wandered away, and is supposed to have been in a mentally unbalanced condition during his last hours on earth. He had probably been dead about two hours when found. He was a native of California and was 36 years of age. He was the oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Genung, pioneer residents of this county. He leaves a mother and father, three sisters and four brothers to mourn his sad and untimely death. the remains were brought to Prescott and the funeral took place from Ruffner's undertaking parlors at 4 p.m. yesterday. The services were conducted by Rev. Father Bennett. Many friends of the departed attended the funeral. His left foot was caught in the crouch of a tree and his body had fallen backwards, his head and shoulders resting on the ground. When found he had not been dead more than two hours. The verdict of the coroner's jury is that death resulted from exposure, exhaustion and injuries received while wandering in the mountains, suffering from dementia, caused by fever which affected his brain.
