Arizona Weekly Citizen, Tucson, Arizona Territory Sunday, October 1, 1882, page 4, col. 1 Sad and Sudden Death Yesterday afternoon about three o'clock, Mrs.. Mary McCall, who for some time past had been living with Mrs. Thompson, on Banning Creek, about four miles from Prescott, died suddenly from heart disease. She had been washing during the day out in the open air, and had stepped to a spring close by to procure some water, when she was seized with a spasm and fell to the ground in the last throes of death. She was found by Mrs. Thompson a few minutes afterward and carried to the house, but life was extinct. Dr. Ainsworth was sent for late in the afternoon and pronounced heart disease as the cause of death. The body was brought to the residence of her parents, from where the funeral took place this afternoon. The deceased was an old resident of this town, and respected by all who knew her. She leaves a husband, General W. H. H. McCall who is at present somewhere on the line of the A. & P., and is doubtless ignorant of her sad and untimely death, and two infant children, besides parents and several brothers and sisters. She was be believe a native of California, and about twenty-three years of age. The bereaved relatives of the deceased have the sympathy of the people of Prescott.
