Alberta Whitman, 85, of Prescott, Ariz., died peacefully Jan. 28, 2014, at the Prescott Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, with a friend at her side and the music of KAHM playing. 

Originally from Pennsylvania, she lived in Prescott for 47 years. 

With her husband, Beniah L. Whitman, M.D., (deceased in 1982) and son, Roy L. Whitman (deceased in 1974) she enjoyed exploring the beauty of the West. 

For many years, Berta worked as a nursing assistant. Always, she loved to learn, take courses, sew for family and friends and enjoy her treasury of books and music. Her friends will miss her sense of humor and feisty spirit.
