Martha Jane (Belknap) Burch passed away peacefully at the age of 79 on January 27, 2014 in the memory unit of the Peaks Senior Living Community in Flagstaff, AZ.
Marty was born on June 15, 1934 in Des Moines, IA to Mervin and Mildred (White) Belknap. She was an only child. Marty loved animals and science, earning her Master’s degree from the University of Southern California. She married Buckner Spears Burch in 1956 and they raised two sons and four bull terriers.
Marty retired to Hawaii in 1983 to be near the ocean. She was in the water nearly every day and took scuba diving trips to many wonderful places. She relocated to Flagstaff in 2005.
Marty was preceded in death by her parents and husband. She is survived by her sons Bruce (Susan) of Kaneohe, HI and Brent (Lynn) of Flagstaff, AZ and four grandchildren.
Arrangements entrusted to Norvel Owens Mortuary. There will be no memorial service.
