This is in loving memory of Donald David “Rocky” Bolin.
Rocky was born in San Bernardino, Calif., on Aug. 17, 1945.
He was the youngest of two children born to Bob and Lois Bolin.
Rocky’s dad was an officer in the Air Force, which took Rocky and his older sister Betty to Hungary, Hawaii and other various states.
His father, known as Pa, was a boxer who taught Rocky how to defend himself and gave him his nickname after a well-known boxer in those days.
Rocky’s family eventually settled in Glendale, Ariz., near his grandparents.
Rocky graduated from Peoria High School and attended Northern Arizona University for a short time.
At 19 years old, he married Lanetta Lux and they had two daughters: Kerry Lynn and Stacy Michelle.
Rocky divorced and later married Linda Willenberg Tollefson, who had three children from a previous marriage: Laura Mary, Lance Ray and Lucas Keith.
He moved to Aguila in 1979, where he raised his family.
In the early 1980s, Rocky gave his life to the Lord Jesus. He helped found Aguila Mission, later becoming the board president until his passing.
Through Aguila Mission, he gave to individuals and families in need, supported missions in other countries, and supported Teen Challenge.
He counseled, preached God’s word, and prayed when and where it was needed.
He also was a member of the Wickenburg Bible Fellowship Church.
Through the years, Rocky learned many trades -- including iron worker, diesel mechanic, miner, solar power installer, school aide, custodian, and assembler for Benner Nawman. Later, he became a certified gunsmith.
Rocky lived out his days as a great husband, father, grandfather, son, son-in-law, brother-in-law, uncle, and a great friend to everyone.
He shared his faith in Jesus and His changing grace through salvation with everyone he met ... and he lived it every day.
God called Rocky home to be with His Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Feb. 3.
Rocky will be missed, loved, and remembered. He loved, gave, and never doubted the value of who we were. Even in our lowest moments, he gave us the encouragement and love we needed to move on and become who God wanted us to be.
Rocky’s greatest joys were being married to Linda and having five children who all serve and live for the Lord today.
He is survived by his wife Linda; daughters Kerry (Joe), Stacy (Anthony) and Laura (Joey); sons Lance (Jana) and Lucas (Jaimee); mother-in-law Mary Lou Willenberg; sister Betty Lou Long; sisters-in-law Leslie Burton and Lori Dillon (Bill); 15 grandchildren: Brandon Martin, Alex Reynolds, Ava, Nicholas and Nathan Di Stefano; Hannah, Rebecca and Benjamin Hamby; Austin, Lane and Ryan Tollefson; Christopher, MaKayla, Alyssa and Joshua Tollefson; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial services were held at 1 p.m. Sunday, (Feb. 9) at the Wickenburg Bible Fellowship Church, 970 N. Tegner St. in Wickenburg.
