Erlinda C. Briones, 91, a life-long resident of Miami, Ariz., passed away Jan. 27, 2014, at her daughter Irene’s house, in Chandler, Ariz. She was born Jan. 9, 1923, in Miami, to proud parents Epitacio and Francisca (Gaona) Castaneda.
She married Dionicio Briones on Sept. 7, 1940, in Miami. He preceded her in death in 1997. She loved life, her garden, and being with family and friends. Erlinda worked for, and retired from, Gila General Hospital. She loved to go to the casino. Mom will be truly missed.
Erlinda is survived by four daughters, Irene Cienfuegos, Gloria (Alfred) Martinez, Mary Lou (Terry) Reynolds and Shelly Arredondo; a son, Andy (Monika) Briones; one brother, Robert Castaneda; and nine grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral Mass was held Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church in Miami, Ariz., preceded by a Rosary Service at 9:30 a.m.
Burial will be in Pinal Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make a donation in Erlinda’s name, to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements were entrusted to Bulman Miles Funeral Services-Miami.
