Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, AZ - Posted: Wednesday, February 5, 2014 - John Wells McManus, 90, passed away Monday, Feb. 3, 2014 in Lake Havasu City. He was born Nov. 28, 1923 in Santa Monica, Calif. to John Wells and Gertrude (Kruska) McManus. John was a proud graduate of Southern California Engineering Program as well as proudly serving his country for three years in the U.S. Army Air Force (B-17 Sgd). He married his beloved wife, Dala (George), June 18, 1948 in Long Beach, Calif. They were married for nearly 60 years, before her passing in 2005. John was a devoted and faithful husband, father and grandfather who loved to spend time with his family, watching his children and grandchildren play sports and taking care of his beloved three-legged cat, Roberta (Bob). He will be deeply missed. John is survived by his daughter, Sharon (Jay) Morgan of Lake Havasu City; son, Charles (Betty) McManus of Lusby, Md.; eight grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Dala, in 2005. A graveside service will be at Lake Havasu Memorial Gardens Thursday, Feb. 6, at 11 a.m. Reception will immediately follow at Jay and Sharon’s house.
