Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, AZ - Posted: Thursday, February 6, 2014 - Betty Jean McIntire Doss, age 81, went to heaven Feb. 3, 2014. She was born Feb. 20, 1932 in Echo, Penn. to Guy Herman and Mildred Ethel (Hayes) McIntire. She moved to California at the age of 14. She was known as Jean to her family and friends. Jean married her sweetheart Edward Doss and moved to Alaska in 1971. She loved to fish and caught a 110-pound halibut. They would snow machine with family and friends; she placed third in a snow machine race in her 50s. Jean and Ed enjoyed square dancing for many years. In 1995, she retired as a purchasing agent for the U.S. government. They then traveled for 17 years, going to all of the United States, Canada and Mexico, settling in Lake Havasu City. She enjoyed being with her family, friends, also her grandchildren and playing with the great-grandchildren. She loved family dinners. Her grandchildren always asked her to make her green Jell-O salad. She was the best Nana to them all. Jean is survived by her husband Ed; her children, Ronald (Linda) Long, of Arizona; Judy (Cossak) Fielding, of Utah; Buddy Honeycutt, of California; Debbie (Jim) Lasiter, of Alaska; Sandy (Joe) Boswell, of Alaska; Leroy (Karen) Doss, of Utah; 14 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren; sister, Nancy (Ralph) Bowers; brother, Bob (Bev) McIntire. She was preceded in death by her son, Jimmy Allen Long; her parents; brothers, Donald, Willard and Raymond and great grandson, Max Williams.
