DURRANT, Sharell (Sherill)

The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 02/07/2014 Sharell Richey Sund Durrant, 87, died Jan. 31, 2014, in Midvale, Utah where she lived. She was born July 31, 1926 in St. Johns. Sharell worked as an elementary school teacher and loved all of her children. She obtained a BA in education at Arizona State College in 1948. In 1983 she graduated with a masters in education from Westminster College in Salt Lake City, Utah. She believed that education was incredibly important and took great pride in her achievements and the achievements of all of her students. Sharell taught in both Mesa and Sandy, Utah where she retired. Sharell is survived by Melissa MacPherson; her siblings: Philip, Milford (Doreen), Dale (Nancy) and LaVina (Henry); granddaughters: Melissa (Josh) and Amber. Sharell was preceded in death by her parents, Hugh and Nellie; siblings: Dean, Maleen, Anna , Louise and daughter Claudia. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, at the Midvalley 1st Ward, 1050 E. Chapel Hill Drive (7404 S.) in Midvale, Utah. A viewing will be held Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 S. State Street, and Saturday at the church prior to services from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary in Murray, Utah handled arrangements. [First name on birth certificate is spelled Sherill]
