HELMICK, Matthew (Matt)

The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona, Friday, February 07, 2014 Matthew James Helmick Matt Helmick of Phoenix, formerly of Chino Valley, Ariz., passed on to his next journey in the river of life on Jan. 28, 2014, at the young age of 35. His laugh, smile and positive energy touched everyone he met. He lived with an open heart and helping hand. He was a true master of many trades - builder, miner, oil driller, and his favorite, river raft guide in Colorado! His interests were varied: sports, hiking, traveling and exploring craft micro-breweries to uncover the best brews in any town he visited! He is the best son, brother, cousin, friend anyone could ever have. Matt is now waiting for his mother, Diane Swart Calderon; his stepfather Salvador Calderon; his dad John Helmick; grandfather Charles Swart; granny Margaret Helmick; siblings Jose Calderon, Patricia Wofford and Guillermo Calderon; his close friend Alexandra and her daughter Ana; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and his dog Abby to join him. Donations to your local Habitat for Humanity would be welcome. Celebrations of his life will be this weekend in Prescott and Phoenix. Please email at mjhcontractingaz@yahoo.com for details. Peace!
