GRANDY, III, William Thomas (Bill)

The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona, Sunday, February 09, 2014 William Thomas Grandy III On Jan. 25, 2014, at 4:17, the man of my heart and my existence passed away and went to be with all the people whom he had loved so deeply, and who had loved him. He was the reason for me living as I did. He was known as Bill, but he was William Thomas Grandy III, a Vietnam vet and he was the loving father of Bill Grandy IV, Jenny Anderson and Nick Grandy. He was grandpa Willie, the grandfather of two grandchildren, Triston and Sylus Grandy; step-grandchildren Summer and Tyler Polselli; and four others he never had the pleasure to meet or get to know. Even though these were long-distance relationships, he loved them with all his heart. His stepson Danny was a huge part of his life and he loved him and knew that Danny would take excellent care of me. He left behind a brother, Rick, and sister-in-law Audrey, who he loved as if she was his sister. He also left his father, William H. Grandy, whom he loved with all of his heart. His favorite times were going to Dad's for lamb chops, a baked sweet potato, a glass or two of wine and just BS'ing with his dad and spending time with him. Naomi, he came to love you as a second mother. His education included four AAs and a bachelor's degree in sociology, with an emphasis on criminology. Education was a huge part of his life. He believed you should never stop learning, no matter how old you are. He will be missed by many: his Aunt Gladys and Uncle Ken who were there for he and I at their prayer group and they spent and drove many miles back and forth to the VAMC in Phoenix, sometimes at 11 p.m. to pick me up. He was so grateful to have them for an aunt and uncle. Uncle Duke and Aunt Janine, he loved the two of you. Sandy, Terry, JR, Sheri and your loving children Aspyn, Paysn and Neeka. There are no words to express how he felt about you and the love he had for all of you. Jim (MOE) and Papai Moser, you are so special and I cannot thank you enough! Liz and Wayne, even though you are in Arkansas, your phone calls got us through many hard times, and the continued reports about the girls were very helpful. Now if we forgot anyone, please forgive us. There are many friends he had throughout the years; we can't list all of you, but Bill loved you all. His passing was peaceful, with me, his wife of 32 years, holding him and three of his best friends by his side. Hospice Family Care was unbelievable in the care they gave - we were and are so grateful! Thank you all, Adelle Grandy. A memorial will take place at a later date. Information provided by survivors.
