Vining Funeral Home, Safford, Arizona Mary Jane Gray September 28, 1916 - January 29, 2014 Mary Jane Gray, age 97, of Pima, passed away Thursday afternoon, January 29, 2014, at her residence. Mary Jane was born September 28, 1916, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Marquet Renard and Carolyn Hiland Hollowell. She spent her youth in California. It was in California that Mary Jane met, fell in love with and married Jesse Albert Gray. To this union were born three children; Jesse Allen “Bud” Gray, Carol Lynn (Gray) Stoehner and Debrah Sue (Gray) Humbert. Mary Jane and Jesse raised their children in California where they continued to live and work until retiring. Upon their retirement, Mary Jane and Jesse would relocate to Portal, Arizona, where they spent the remainder of their lives surrounded by family and friends. Mary Jane is survived by: her two daughters, Carol Lynn Stoehner and Debrah Sue Humbert (Larry); her grandchildren, Heidi Lynn Counts, Hannah Lee Crawford, Jesse Albert “Chip” Gray, Carolyn Ada (Gray) Rockel and Todd Humbert; her great-grandchildren of the home, Jesse Jacob Dakota Counts, Maryannah May June Counts and many other great-grandchildren. Mary Jane was preceded in death by: her husband of 49 years, Jesse Albert Gray; her children, Baby Gray and Jesse Allen “Bud” Gray; her parents, Marquet Renard and Carolyn “Mother” Hollowell; her step-father, Arthur James Hollowell; her younger sister, Ester Hollowell; and her younger brother, James Hollowell. As requested by Mary Jane, there will be no public services. Private family services for Mary Jane will be conducted at a later date.
