GOMEZ, Daniel Jaramillo (Danny)

Gomez September 18, 1957 - January 19, 2014 Daniel Jaramillo Gomez, “Danny,” was born September 18, 1957, to Jesus and Suzie Gomez in Morenci, Arizona, the only son of four children. Danny lived out his childhood and school years in Clifton before moving to Safford, where he spent the majority of his life. During his school years, he met his wife of 34 years, Olga Moran, of Morenci. Danny and Olga were married on October 20, 1979. Shortly before they wed, Danny began his career in 1978 at Phelps Dodge where he worked as a Crush and Convey Repairman. Later transferring to the Safford mine as a supervisor, where his fellow employees held him in high regard. Danny spent his life raising his children and working 35 years as a miner. He was always very active and loved spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. Danny enjoyed all outdoor activities, but he especially enjoyed lifting weights, fishing, riding bikes, playing paintball and most of all spoiling his grandchildren. Danny entered into eternal rest on January 19, 2014, in Safford, Arizona, at the age of 56. He is survived by: his wife, Olga Gomez of Safford; his four children, Danielle Pierce (Matthew) of Safford, Danette Martin (Jonathan) of Goodyear, Daniel Gomez (Paula) of Goodyear, and David Jacob Gomez of Safford; his eight grandchildren; his parents, Jesus and Suzie Gomez of Clifton; and his sisters, Ana Licano of Peoria, Maro Merino (Efren) of San Jose, and Patricia Gomez of Clifton.
