Florence Alleen Fickel died Feb. 3, 2014, in Lakeside. She was born Nov. 7, 1929, to Daniel and Magdalena Stetner in Mabton, Wash.
She married George Fickel Jr. May 23, 1946. They built a family together and were married for 62-and-a-half years, having eight children together.
Floss was known for her positive attitude and beautiful smile. She was a hardworking mother of eight children and was always caring for her the needs of her family and others. She was known for her delicious home cooking and fresh-made bread, as well as her hospitality and care of others. She was a self-taught artist who sold many of her paintings over the years. She loved music and singing and was a happy, loving woman.
Floss was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in New York in 1950. She worked alongside her husband George in the construction of Kingdom Halls from Washington state, Kentucky and Arizona. Floss will be remembered for her love and zeal for Jehovah God and her desire to help others.
She is survived by one son, Joel Fickel; six daughters: Nancy (Curtis) Terrill, Georgina (Scott) Sutherland, Janae Fickel (Keith David), JoAnna (Alonzo) Orona, Julie Fickel and Jody (Raymond) Patton. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her son, Gary Steven Fickel, her husband George Fickel Jr., father and mother Daniel and Magdalena Stetner, brothers Rudy and Herb Stetner and sister Margaret Gimlin.

We would also like to thank the employees of Lawyers Title for their support of the family and kindness through the years.”
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Jehovah’s Witnesses Worldwide Work at PO Box 3973, Show Low, AZ 85902.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, at The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses at 201 W. Whipple in Show Low.
