The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona, Tuesday, February 11, 2014 Fred Spears Sr. passed peacefully from this earth on Feb. 7, 2014. Fred was born on April 7, 1935, in Sallisaw, Okla. He moved to the Phoenix, Ariz. area in 1943 with his family. Fred lived and worked in Phoenix until 1998, when he moved with his wife to the Prescott area. Fred worked for 42 years at the Arizona Air National Guard Base in Phoenix, being activated during the Korean War and Desert Shield. After moving to the Prescott area, Fred took up the guitar and formed a Country Swing Band, The Prescott Playboys. Fred is survived by his wife Caryl; son Fred Spears Jr.; daughters Vangie Barnard and Patricia Perry; nine grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. There will be a Celebration of Life on Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014 at the Adult Center of Prescott, 1280 E. Rosser St., Prescott from 10 a.m. to noon. Musicians are invited to bring their instruments. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the United Animal Friends, the Heritage Park Zoo or the Hospice of the Pines.
